How to tie dye
- Lay out your cotton t-shirt or garment of choice. This can be done in your backyard on the grass or in a plastic tub. Use bin bags or a poncho to protect any surfaces if doing inside.
- Fold your t-shirt or garment around itself in a clockwise direction so it creates a ‘tie-dye pie’. Use your finger as a centrepoint.
- Wrap rubber bands around different areas and directions of the shirt or garment.
- Using the dye in a squeeze bottle, start to add dye colours on different sections of the shirt or garment.
- Once the top part is done and dry, flip it over and do the other side.
- Put garment in a large zip lock bag and leave in a warm place for 24 hours or as stated on dye kit.
- Put gloves on and take out garment from zip lock bag. Rinse in cold water until the water runs clear.
- Hang it out to dry and it’s ready to wear.
